Indian farmer lost in a patent dispute over a genetically modified soybean seed to Monsanto. It was not a good day to the farming community. In my opinion, farmers need to be cautious using Monsanto crops; you don’t want to fight with giant Chemical Corporation.
Excerpt:
A unanimous Supreme Court ruled Monday that an Indiana farmer infringed on Monsanto’s patent when he planted soybeans that had been genetically modified by Monsanto without buying them from the agribusiness giant.
In the decision, written by Justice Elena Kagan, the nine justices ruled that “patent exhaustion does not permit a farmer to reproduce patented seeds through planting and harvesting without the patent holder’s permission.”
President Obama signed a spending bill, HR933, into law on last Tuesday. HR 933 was a spending bill aimed at averting a government shutdown and ensuring that the federal government would continue to be able to pay its bills. However, under the Farmer Assurance Provision- Section 735 of the spending Bill, ‘Monsanto Protection Act’ is added, the food and consumer advocates and organic farmers are not in favor of what is put into the Bill.
There are important points in the provision are:
1/ ‘Monsanto Protection Act’ prevent the Federal Court to shut down GMO (Genetically modified organism) or GE (Genetically Engineered) seeds operation.
2/ Even if it is found to be harmful to consumers, Sen. Roy Blunt, Republican of Missouri, actually worked with Monsanto on a provision that in effect allows them to keep selling seeds, which can then go on to be planted
3/ “In this hidden backroom deal, Sen. [Barbara] Mikulski turned her back on consumer, environmental and farmer protection in favor of corporate welfare for biotech companies such as Monsanto,” Andrew Kimbrell, executive director of the Center for Food Safety, said in a statement.
4/ While the Media are focusing on gay marriage, the Bill was passed and signed by President Obama.
5/Disregard we have more than 250,000 voters signed a petition opposing the provision, it won’t stop the Bill moving forward.
Though the Bill lasts for six months, it may find its way to extend the operation. The big bio company is buying time to work into the system and politician may generate more campaign money. It is a win win situation for them, but the consumer loss big time.
If you know they are spraying Antibiotic on organic fruit tree, you may not want to consume it.
Every time you eat an organic apple or pear, you expose your gut flora to measurable levels of streptomycin and tetracycline. This increases your chances of developing resistance to these important antibiotics, both of which are essential to treating human disease. Tetracycline is used to treat common infections of the respiratory tract, sinuses, middle ear, and urinary tract, as well as for anthrax, plague, cholera, and Legionnaire’s disease. Streptomycin is used to treat tuberculosis, tularemia, plague, bacterial endocarditis, brucellosis and other diseases.
For more detail and sign the petition by April 8, and add your own comments. Ask the NOSB to stick with the agreed schedule and get antibiotics out of organic apples and pears by October 2014.
A caring Michigan mother who refuses to drug her child with psychiatric medications stands between her Rights and State Rights. Because of her action, the State utilizes its power and brings in the swat teams and a tank for a day long stand off. The questions is, who got to decide what‘s the best medical care for the child? Is Government or the parent? The Government thinks they have the authority to decide what the best care is for the child. But the court disagreed. The court ruled it is the parent jobs to oversea the Medication for the child, not the State.

Are we in Obesity Crisis? I would think so. Obesity can contribute much health issue and become a great concern in all ages. Why didn’t our government do something about it? That’s not what they do best. Most often, politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them. First we have to look at our food supply:
The US government subsidizes farmers through the Farm Bill to produce high carbohydrate foods such, as corn, wheat, soybeans, and rice. However, farmers are paid, by comparison, very little to grow fresh produce.
This is reflected in supermarket prices. “The real prices of fruits and vegetables between 1985 and 2000 increased by nearly 40 percent, while the real price of soft drinks (a.k.a liquid corn) declined by 23 percent.”
“The reason the least healthful calories in the supermarket are the cheapest, is that those are the ones the Farm Bill encourages farmers to grow.”
“One of the particularly perverse outcomes of the corn subsidies has been to make High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS), the sweetener of choice for processed-food producers. Nearly all non-diet sodas now contain HFCS, and it is also in dozens of other food products, from breakfast cereal to chick nuggets.” In addition, it is now being included in lunch meats.
A few months ago, NY Mayor, Bloomberg campaigned against the Obesity, instead of regulating High-fructose-corn syrup, he regulated people to consume soft drink. That was a classic example to what politicians does best.

SACRAMENTO, CA– Resistance to smart meter deployments can vary tremendously, depending on local circumstances. Sometimes a local population is informed, organized and resistant to a smart meter deployment before the men in uniforms and white trucks arrive like some old episode from the Twilight Zone, barging into people’s backyards and installing devices that make people sick.

PG&E OFFICERS KIRALY AND BURT, CPUC PLANNING & POLICY DIVISION HEAD MARZIA ZAFAR IMPLICATED IN SMART METER SPY SCANDAL
SAN FRANCISCO- Documents filed last week at the California Public Utilities Commission indicate that the spy scandal that forced the resignation of William Devereaux, ex- Senior Director of Pacific Gas and Electric’s SmartMeter program in November 2010, has now widened to include at least 2 officers in the company, Chief Customer Officer Helen Burt and Greg Kiraly, Senior Vice President of Electric Distribution and several other employees, as well as the Head of Policy and Planning at the CPUC, Marzia Zafar.
Rice has been a main food source for over many centuries in Asia Country. No major illness had been reported from consuming rice and no shortages of rice production had been threatened in this growing market. I was devastating to learn USDA allows they clone our rice in the name of common good.
Excerpt from article:
The Agriculture Department has given a preliminary green light for the first commercial production of a food crop engineered to contain human genes, reigniting fears that biomedical potent substances in high-tech plants could escape and turn up in other foods.
The proteins are to be extracted for use as an anti-diarrhea medicine and might be added to health foods such as yogurt and granola bars.
As they claim:
“We can really help children with diarrhea get better faster. That is the idea,” said Scott E. Deeter, president and chief executive of Sacramento-based Ventria Bioscience, emphasizing that a host of protections should keep the engineered plants and their seeds from escaping into surrounding fields.
But critics are assailing the effort, saying gene-altered plants inevitably migrate out of their home plots. In this case, they said, that could result in pharmacologically active proteins showing up in the food of unsuspecting consumers.
Labeling food is a moral thing to do to keep us from illness. There are so many questionable farming livestock practices which USDA allows, obviously those practices have great potential doing more harm to our body.
Excerpt from the Article:
Nine examples of what the public isn’t supposed to know
(1) Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone (rBGH):It’s injected into cows to force more milk production. Monsanto created it by combining cow DNA and E. coli (really). Now Eli Lily owns it.
It infects cows’ udders, causing gross malformations and demands a plethora of antibiotic injections which furthers the creation of antibiotic resistant superbugs. It also leaves small amounts of pus in consumers’ milk.
For a few years, farmers who labeled their milk “no rBGH” were harassed with “legal actions” by Monsanto. That level of free speech has been halted, yet rBGH treated milk is not labeled.
(2) Toxic drugs in meat:The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) has determined that meat inspectors lack the wherewithal to find certain toxic drug residues in meats from factory farming. Parasites and bacteria can be cooked out. Drugs and heavy metals can’t be cooked out.
(3) Gourmet meats:Calves are placed into tiny crates to prevent any movement then slaughtered before full maturity. Their muscles aren’t developed, so their tender meat is served as veal.
Despite images of geese and ducks with bleeding throats struggling to breathe and barely able to walk, force feeding fowl to create the bloated liver “delicacy” known as foie gras continues in the USA.
(4) Salmonella:The perpetrator of the most recent huge egg salmonella outbreak, Jack DeCoster, only had to recall a half-billion eggs after causing 1600 illnesses.
He wasn’t shut down or arrested or fined despite the atrocious disease potential conditions of hen houses that are common among egg producers, including Tyson Foods. Instead of creating better conditions, they just inject the hens with more antibiotics.
(5) Antibiotics:Speaking of antibiotics, 70 percent of existing antibiotics are injected into livestock. The consumed meat brings antibiotics into human bodies. Added to this factor is the overuse of antibiotics for humans. The result is more antibiotic resistance and superbugs such as MRSA.
(6) Extreme growth promoters:The EU doesn’t allow antibiotics or extreme growth promoters to be used on livestock. TheUSDA is all for it. Even arsenic is allowed to make chickens grow bigger, faster. Enjoy your chicken wings.
(7) HACCP:Stands for Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points. It actually restricts meat inspectors by leaving it up to the companies to assure the cleanliness and safety of their meats. The inspectors come around to check on whether they’re doing the quality control methods those companies had proposed, yet they wind up having to look the other way as they push out contaminated meat.
(8) Mad Cow:It came, it went, and it’s back again according to the report posted onAlterNet. The EU banned beef imports from the U.S. when the first mad cow episode occurred.
Mad cow results from mixing cow parts in with cattle feed, causing the neurodegenerative disease bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) that can also contaminate humans.
(9) Cloned livestock:The FDA and USDA claim there is no difference between cloned and natural livestock, so it needn’t be labeled. This reasoning mimics GMO and rBGH non labeling issues. Monsanto really does control the FDA and USDA. Read more from Source.

Important message from director,Stopsmartmeter.org !
As bad as the extortionate and punitive smart meter ‘opt-out’ fee policy seems at the moment, utilities in California are pressuring the CPUC to increase the fees, and take away the choice of an analog meter, forcing us to pay hundreds of dollars/ year for a digital ‘radio off’ meter with many of the same problems as the ‘smart’ meter. It’s been revealed that utilities like PG&E have scrapped millions of perfectly functional analog meters- now they want to charge us for purchasing new ones. We refuse to be charged for the incompetence of for-profit, corporate utilities.
IT IS CRITICAL TO ATTEND THESE HEARINGS AND TO ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO ATTEND. Approach your family, neighbors, friends, and local elected officials now about attending and speaking at one of these hearings.
We are demanding:
-no-cost, purely electromechanical analog meters for water, gas and electric utilities
-the right for apartment complexes, and cities and counties to opt out
-the right for businesses- as well as residences to refuse smart meters
The CPUC has ignored widespread pleas from the public to schedule these hearings at a time when they would not conflict with the holidays. Many are speculating that these dates were chosen to diminish public turnout.
Don’t let them get away with this!
If you cannot attend the hearings, please send comments (see below).

1) Should more than one opt-out option be offered to customers who do not wish to have a wireless SmartMeter (e.g., a digital, non-communicating meter)? Should different fees be assessed based on the type of opt-out meter selected by the customer and, if so, what is an appropriate level for such fees?
2) Should all costs associated with the opt-out option be paid by only those customers electing the option, or should some portion of these costs be allocated to all ratepayers and/or to utility shareholders?
3) What fees should be assessed on customers who elect the opt-out option and should the fees be assessed on a per meter or per location basis?
4) Should there be an “exit fee” imposed on customers who elect the opt-out option and later return to a wireless SmartMeter?
5) Should the opt-out option be extended to local governments and communities?
If you are unable to attend these hearings, you may submit written comments to the to the CPUC’s Public Advisor’s Office at the address noted below. Look at the amount of money pulled into ‘Anti Prop 37 ’ campaign efforts from Big Phama and farmer Corporations, the message is clear, they are not protecting small farmers and consumers.
The questions for the voters are ‘Do we have a Right to know what’s in our foods?’, and ‘ Do we want to consume foods would harm our health? ’
We could not labels every item on the market, but it is a good start and may not be the last.

Join us for this special GMO Awareness radio show!
On Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM (EST),8:00 AM (PST). Deborah Whitman will be talking about some of the health affects of GMO Food and how you can protect yourself and your family.
Genetic engineering of plants and animals often causes unintended consequences. The results are not always predictable or controllable and they can lead to adverse health and/or environmental consequences.
It’s time to show the biotech industry that we will no longer allow the food that we eat to be tampered with. No longer, will we allow pesticides/herbicides on the food we eat. That we will not allow GMOs and we demand safe and healthy food. We have the power to make positive changes and we must exercise this power.
Californians have the opportunity to start this powerful movement by voting “YES” on California Proposition 37. We have “The Right To Know“ what is in our food. If you have friends or family in California, please contact them and please encourage them to vote “Yes” on 37. Do whatever you can to get the message out and educate others. Generic Roulette video was expired, it was replaced with this full length HD presentation Jeffrey M. Smith (the global leader in GMO awareness) gave on August 17th, 2012
Excerpts from the Generic Roulette video:
You may be wondering how GMO foods come to our dinner table. Those foods come from the back door with our FDA help.
GM industry has appointed known advocates of GMO foods to positions like Secretary of Agriculture (both Tom Vilsack and Ann Veneman) Michael Taylor, Roger Beachy (Director, USDA NIFA, 2009), Margaret Miller (Branch Chief for evaluation of rBGH under Bush, previously scientist at Monsanto on Bovine Growth Hormone), Linda Fisher, EPA Deputy Administrator under Clinton, after being VP at Monsanto). Michael Taylor is our Food Safety czar.
According to American Academy of Environmental Scientists reported:
However, several animal studies indicate serious health risks associated with GM food consumption including infertility, immune dysregulation, accelerated aging, dysregulation of genes associated with cholesterol synthesis, insulin regulation, cell signaling, and protein formation, and changes in the liver, kidney, spleen and gastrointestinal system.
We’ve been consuming these foods for 20 years, about the time span of allergy epidemic.
BT kills insects by breaking open their stomachs. Monsanto said that is insects, it won’t hurt people. But it does break open pores in human cells.
Jeffrey Smith, “They found that the part of the gene inserted into soy to make them RoundUp ready transferred into the DNA of bacteria living inside our intestines, and stayed there. That bacteria was not kill-able with Round Up, suggesting that the gene remained active. This means that long after we have stopped eating genetically modified foods we may still have these genetically modified proteins produced continuously inside of us. They never checked to see if the BT toxin gene transferred from, say, corn chips, into our intestinal bacteria. If it does, it might turn our intestinal flora into living pesticide factories. This might explain why 93% of women tested in Canada had the BT toxin in their blood, as well as in the blood of 80% of their unborn fetuses. [See also: http://www.rense.com/general80/haz.htm] .
The National Heirloom Exposition is a not-for-profit event centered around the pure food movement, heirloom vegetables, and anti-GMO activism. Our inaugural event held mid-September 2011 in Santa Rosa, California drew more than 10,000 people from around the country and beyond. With more than 70 speakers and 250 natural food vendors, the event was the largest gathering in pure food history! The Heirloom Expo has gained incredible interest among home growers, farmers, school groups and the general public–so much so that it is being called the “World’s Fair of the pure food movement”!
