Parental Rights at Test!

Under the current law, if parent would prefer not to vaccinate their child for any religious/moral reasons, they may be required sign a form for exemption. Recently, a new Bill AB2109 was introduced on Feb 23,2012. It would make less convenient and less rightful for the parent to op-out. Dr. Richard Pan, Dem. Assemblyman from Sacramento, Pediatrician, is the author of AB 2109. The bill is co-authored by Senator Wolk and Assembly Member Fuentes.

This bill, if passed, would require parents to obtain the signature of a “health care practitioner” for a personal beliefs/religious exemption. MD’s, nurse practitioners, and physician’s assistants can sign. But, naturopaths and chiropractors cannot.

It is very important that you contact your own CA state legislators NOW and ask them to oppose AB2109.
